Yodaw’s journey into DJ culture began in the early 1990s, driven by a dream to one day play on the main stage of Paradiso Amsterdam. What started as a fascination with hip-hop quickly evolved into a dedication to the art of turntablism. In the early 2000s he toured nationally with the turntable band WaxWankerz, performing on major pop stages including Paradiso, Het Paard, TivoliVredenburg, Rotown and 013 Tilburg. Over the years he developed a distinctive style that balances classic DJ techniques with smooth blends and precise transitions, always focused on rhythm, musical storytelling and the craft of working the turntables.
Throughout his career DJ Yodaw has performed at numerous venues and festivals, both as a DJ and scratch performer. Highlights include stages such as Paradiso Amsterdam, Melkweg Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg, 013 Tilburg and Rotown Rotterdam. Along the way he has shared stages with respected artists including Kypski, Broky B, DNS and Zuco103, further establishing his presence within the Dutch DJ and turntablist scene.
DJ Yodaw has also appeared at Zwarte Liefde, the vinyl only concept founded by Welly Well, where authentic DJ culture and the love for records take center stage. In these settings he showcases his turntable skills and musical knowledge while celebrating the roots of DJing. Under the name HierIsJoost, he also performs at cafés, bars and smaller events, bringing accessible sets with mainstream, pop and urban influences while maintaining the same musical awareness and crowd connection.
Currently Yodaw continues to refine his craft through mixes, visual artwork and international bookings, while staying focused on what matters most: sharing music and enjoying the journey, whether performing for intimate crowds or larger festival audiences.
With a deep respect for DJ culture, sharp turntable skills and a love for groove-driven music, DJ Yodaw delivers sets where technique, creativity and energy come together.
